Learn About How a Septic System Works
H & S Septic Service believes it's important to educate our customers about how a septic system works. Every time you flush your toilet, the waste goes into a cylinder in the ground that has a baffle that cuts the waste in half. After that, all waste is dumped into your septic tank. The waste is eaten by bacteria and turns into a flood. Sometimes there will be gray water at the bottom which gets drained out in a drainfield.
The gray water absorbs into the earth and the cycle continues. It's actually good for crops and vitamin-rich soil. When your septic tank is not pumped, waste goes into the second chamber which can get clogged once it's full causing problems with your outlet baffle or effluent filter.
